Monument Valley is a surreal exploration game with an architecture reminiscent of M.C. Escher

Monument Valley It is an application for iOS mobile devices, it is pending to publish it for Android, in which you have to play with surreal scenarios, fantastic architectures and impossible geometries reminiscent of M.C. Escher's designs. The challenge is to guide the Princess Ida Through mysterious monuments, discover hidden paths, take advantage of optical illusions and escape the traps.

Not only M.C. Escher inspires the video game, also the japanese prints and offers a simple, clear and very clean 3D design. Monument Valley presents very original game forms and allows players to discover skills in an intuitive way. In addition the game also integrates music changes that occur when the game space is transformed. Neil McFarland is the game director at ustwogames which explains that the game has a very careful design, many user tests, a great artistic quality that offers players a spectacular experience. In our case we are advancing in the successive scenarios to see what Princess Ida discovers on her trip. We leave you with the presentation video that is fascinating:

The game, for iOS, has a price of 3.59 euros that although it is a little higher than average ensures entertainment, it requires thinking and looking for the right combinations. It also relies on music to find the only way out.

Although it doesn't have much to do it reminded me of the game Prince of Persia who played in the Spectrum for its elegance in movements, for the novelty in a design that was not as pixelated as others of the time, and for the amount of traps and puzzles that had to be overcome. In this game I like how perspective is used, the music, the fragility of the Princess Ida and the atmosphere that gets you into history. We will continue playing to see how far we get.
