The rubber ducks banned in San Francisco

Starting next December, the nice rubber ducklings will have no place in the city of San Francisco, becoming the first city in the United States to veto toys in which chemical products that may be harmful to children have participated in its manufacture.

And the thing will go further, because they want to ban the sale of all items for babies that contain chemicals that are harmful to health. Directly they go for phthalates, a chemical that is used to soften the plastic in its manufacture and which is suspected of causing cancer and damage to the reproductive system, banned since July in the EU.

But they go further, with their prevention and being consequent that it may be a mistake that they will prefer to accept in order to protect the health of the little ones, they want to veto another component that could also be carcinogenic, this is used to make the transparent plastic and it's called bisphenol. Logically, the voice of the toy makers has already echoed and they have filed the relevant lawsuits, stating that state laws are above municipal ordinances.

A few days ago, the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper put many parents on alert, as it showed the results of the analyzes carried out on 16 products in a specialized laboratory in Chicago, among them were some labeled as non-toxic.

The result was that some rubber duckies that are sold in Walgreens (a large chain of drug stores in the US), contain two carcinogenic components, one from phthalates in a proportion thirteen times higher than that allowed by the regulations and the other, also used in a proportion three times higher than the allowed regulations.

If San Francisco's municipal regulations came into force, other products containing bisphenol would be out of the market, such as a Disney rattle, Baby Einstein, or a teether made by Munchkin, water books, bottles, bottles and even pacifiers.

It is clear that we can not trust the air we breathe, we only hope that if these products threaten the health of children, quickly put the means to stop it, taking advantage of the situation we will not fail to name that there are certain products that could also be Toxic and of which we have no knowledge, these are certain nail polishes and other cosmetics, we hope you have informed us.
