More ultrasounds are needed in pediatric consultations

When we take our children to a pediatric control, they auscultate it, explore it, check their ears, eyes ... but what does the pediatrician do to check it "inside"?

To give an example, in three years my oldest daughter has never had a single ultrasound in a routine check.

Ultrasound they are more useful in pediatrics than in adult medicine, however very few are done in pediatric consultations, where doctors should be trained to implement them in children's reviews.

The ultrasounds, the same that we do when we are pregnant, are safe for the baby in gestation, therefore also in children.

They do not emit radiation therefore they are very safe and also have the great advantage that they are very effective in diagnosing many diseases.

Through the ultrasound technique you can see all the organs of the body, except bones and organs that contain gases such as the lung or a gut with gases.

We know that the sooner health problems are detected, the more easily they can be solved by avoiding sequelae and major problems in the future.

At the VIII International Congress of Clinical Ultrasound that has just been held in Benidorm, specialists said that the ultrasound “is not sufficiently implanted in child care, either in health centers or in emergency services, when in fact it is tremendously useful in the explorations of the little ones. "

As a mother it is a lack that worries me. I consider that pediatric controls are too superficial, that a complete medical evaluation of the child is not currently carried out and that with the use of ultrasound many disorders could be detected in time.
