The embarrassing birth of the first baby of 2019 in Guatemala

The delivery room is full of medical staff dressed in beanie hats and garlands and everyone shouts the countdown "Six, five, four, three, two, one, zero!", while they record it with their mobiles.

At 12 o'clock someone catches a baby in his arms, born by natural birth and immediately hang the images on the Internet, presuming to have participated in the first birth in Guatemala in 2019. And all between screams, applause and beeps.

While all this is happening, the mother is lying on the couch without anyone paying attention to her. This unforgivable disrespect, which has even been classified as obstetric violence, has become viral on social networks. Naturally, the criticisms of this video follow one another from the zero minute.

Total disrespect, empathy and professionalism

The video recorded at the Maternity Hospital Roosevelt, in Guatemala, ran like wildfire via Twitter. The euphoria of doctors, more typical of a New Year's Eve party, shame.

It is incredible that none of those present have thought about how embarrassed the mother has had to feel, in the middle of her son's birth, without anyone worrying about her needs in that very intimate and special moment, and that they also spread it.

After the criticism received, the publication was withdrawn, but the recording has been maintained in other accounts, such as in Argentina, which reproduce it "With the hope that the first birth of 2020 will be attended by more evolved and respectful professionals with women and their babies."

This video was removed from the links. We believe it is necessary to have it in our Tweeter with the hope that the first birth of 2020 will be attended by more evolved and respectful professionals with women and their babies. Enough of obstetric violence pic.twitter.com/w4035TjJw6

Childbirth should always be respectful to women

The woman requires a quiet environment to give birth, just like the baby, who deserves to be born in an environment as intimate as possible, quite the opposite of what happened in this maternity ward.

In addition, there are many users who criticize the performance of doctors, who could have harmed the health of the mother and her child, when their job is to take care of them.

These are some of the comments of users who have been able to read:

Yes, in a hospital in Guatemala. Horrible all, poor mother's face, go through all this. Making a circus, forcing her to wait for the baby to be born at 0:00. Violated all your rights and that of your baby.

This is the most horrible and inhuman thing I've seen from a birth. I have given birth 3 months ago and my conscience has not allowed me to finish watching the video. Disgust. May it never be repeated for any mother and no baby in the world.

In fact, childbirth is one of the most important and momentous moments in a woman's life and is etched in her brain (and her baby's) forever.

Hence the importance of respect the rights of mothers during the birth of their baby. To support this humanization of childbirth, the World Health Organization (WHO) has published its recommendations to place the mother at the center for a positive birth experience.

Without a doubt, the opposite of the embarrassing experience of this Guatemalan mother. Hopefully it will never happen again, anywhere in the world.
