The woman who could give birth to the first Martian baby

On Mars there is no life. The Martians who talked to us about science fiction books and movies do not seem to exist and there are many of us who were quite clear that we would die without seeing a Martian. However, it seems that this can be remedied in the coming years because there are already projects underway to send humans to colonize the planet.

I speak of "Mars One", a private project that aims to send the first humans to Mars in 2025 and in turn turn the whole issue into a reality show. Maggie lieu, the girl in the photo, is one of the finalists and is already talking about It could be the woman who gave birth to the first Martian baby.

Mars One, a one-way ticket project

But not back. The project intends to send a group of 40 humans to Mars with one way ticket, but not back. Sounds so absurd, so out of place, that the most logical thing is that no one would have presented a candidate. The surprise came when 200,000 people signed up for the casting.

Maggie Lieu is one of them, and she has been overcoming all the cuts until she reaches the last one, at which time 600 finalists remain. He is 24 years old, but he is very clear that he wants to get on a spaceship and not come back (sometimes I also feel a little like that ... things about living in this world and watching the news, I guess). Once they get there, ensure that they will have to colonize the planet with new inhabitants, which, according to ABC, explains in this way:

To start a colony we will have to have children on Mars and it could happen. It is a challenge, nobody has investigated childbirth in circumstances of low severity. It would be curious because the first child born on Mars would be the first Martian.

Well, I don't know very well how the project will develop, but I imagine that wherever they live they will have minimum conditions where the possibility of living with a gravity like the one we have on earth will be included. If not, you will tell me.

Will she be

It is possible that yes, it is possible that no. First it has to be one of the 40 people who will make the trip and, second, It has to be one of the first to travel. Apparently, the project has a cost of 6 billion dollars and the idea is that people travel four by four, every two years. There will be 40 people until the year 2045, so if it is one of the last, it will be 54 years old and by then I do not think I will be able to give birth to any Martian (or any earthling).

In the end, more than knowing who the woman who gives birth to the first Martian baby will be or not, the interesting thing is to know that there are projects such as the Mars One (which I personally doubt that it will succeed and that it succeeds) and that there are people, quite, willing to go not to return, creating there a family with some children that, probably, grow up wanting to travel to Earth.
