Abortion does not increase the risk of breast cancer

It is proven that pregnancy before age 35 has a protective effect against the risk of breast cancer.

Therefore, it was believed that abortion, whether spontaneous or induced, by interrupting this process, also eliminated the body's natural defense.

However, researchers from Harvard University (United States) point out that it is not so, that interrupted pregnancies have no relation to the chances of developing this tumor.

The effect of protection against breast cancer during pregnancy is due to the fact that women make large amounts of chorionic gonadotropin that stimulates breast tissue and accelerates the differentiation of their cells making them less likely to cause cancer.

Through a study of more than 100,000 women between 29 and 46 years old, who were followed for ten years, and of which 1,458 women suffered from breast carcinoma, scientists were able to show that there is no association between having an abortion and the incidence of breast cancer.

In addition to pregnancy, we have commented several times on the blog that breastfeeding also helps reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Again, thanks to scientific studies we can internalize ourselves on issues that interest us and discriminate what is best for us and for our babies.
