Now a study reveals that it is essential to feed premature babies with breast milk. According to the researchers, providing breast milk to very premature babies greatly contributes to the mental development process. The conclusion of the study is based on data obtained from 773 premature newborns who had a very low birth weight, not reaching 1000 grams.
Two groups were carried out, the first group was fed with breast milk, the second was fed intravenously, when the babies reached 30 months of age, the results showed a better intellectual development in the babies that were fed with breast milk.
Evidence shows that babies in intensive care units due to premature birth should be breastfed to ensure better intellectual and physical development.
