Canadian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children: CSPCC

There is an association with such a crude name because there is also a society where that happens: child abuse. And this time we are not talking about Spain and its high rates but about Canada. Unfortunately, there is no country, no matter how technologically and economically developed it is, that is free of this world scourge. I don't know if Iceland that looks like a paradise of child happiness is exempt from this violence or not.

The founder is Elliott Barker, a renowned Canadian psychiatrist who was director of a maximum safety hospital for mentally ill people in Ontario. His experiences and research with psycho patients they related their behaviors and the lack of compassion towards other human beings with a childhood full of abuse they received (conscious or unconscious of adults) and memories of cruelty.

This discovery led this psychiatrist to dedicate himself to the prevention of child abuse as a basis for improve society and created the Canadian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (CSPCC): Empathic Parenting.

And we do not believe that this only affects parents who physically beat their children, because it is not so. It is also violence, and generates negative consequences, the not answer and answer to the basic needs of contact babies, comfort and simply full-time love and adult presence.

The objectives of this Society is to change aspects of any culture that prevent parents from raising healthy, self-confident and empathic children with others. And for this they have created an online Course for parents: “The Art of Being a Father”That I explain in detail in another post. It is available in 3 languages: English, French and Spanish.

Excellent initiative that responds to a lack of our civilization. These are two phrases that have made me reflect on his website:

"Babies learn resignation easily, they accept not to satisfy their needs but the price is low self-esteem and confidence in the world "

"Children reflect the care they have received"
