Children up to 14 years will be vaccinated against influenza A in Spain

Waiting for the vaccine to be terminated and clinical trials determine its correct application and possible side effects, in Spain it is announced that children up to 14 years old will receive the influenza A vaccine, since they represent a risk group, as well as pregnant women.

It has been announced today by the Spanish Minister of Health. Health workers, severe chronic patients and workers in basic state services will also receive the vaccine.

The truth is that data from countries such as England, where in a short time the number of those affected by influenza A have doubled and already far outweigh the serious cases of seasonal flu, give us think and do not make them too optimistic about the future of the pandemic for winter.

The Spanish Government has agreed to purchase 37 million vaccines (two doses per person will be necessary), although it is not yet known exactly when they will be available or what the application schedule will be, since the clinical trials have not been completed.

In the event that the rate of infection is high, the minister said that vaccines can be sold in pharmacies, under medical prescription, and dispensed in primary care centers and not only in hospitals.

Without the intention of creating alarm, as a mother I am concerned about the topic of this flu that can become more virulent than the common one and also that it puts so many hopes in the solution of some vaccines that still present enough unknowns.
