Kisses to immunize the future mom

If we thought that kissing with our partners was pure romanticism and passion, we will take a disappointment. The kiss can be quite pragmatic, and be limited to mating behavior with a specific function related to fluid exchange.

The kiss serves to immunize the woman and the future baby against the germs of the couple. And, although we kiss as impulse, as something instinctive and as a sign of our feelings, there is some motivation behind.

According to a recent investigation, when kissing the man transmits germs to the woman to strengthen her immune system before and during pregnancy.

For example, it protects it from cytomegalovirus, a congenital infection of the herpes virus family that does not usually cause symptoms or dangers, but which in pregnant women can transmit the virus to the baby causing serious pathologies and disabilities, from deafness to cerebral palsy, and even death.

Colin Hendrie, from the University of Leeds, author of this study, points out that if the man inoculates the cytomegalovirus to the woman through the exchange of saliva, it is gradually immunized. After six months kissing comes the time of optimal protection, because the woman's body becomes immune, protecting her and her baby in a supposed pregnancy.

Obviously, the kiss is an act so deeply assumed in our brain, that homosexual couples or without the possibility of having children continue to practice it, even if this primitive function does not make sense.

In addition, we have the rest of "advantages" of the kiss, as a sign of affection and connection between two people that produces pleasant sensations.

So this exclusively human habit allows men to pass dangerous germs to women during pregnancy, giving them time to increase immunity.

So you know, one more reason to keep the flame of love with passionate kisses, which protect the future mom and baby from infections. If kissing is good for a lot ...
