Toy Museums in Malta

Malta has a couple of toy museums: the “Toy Museum” of Valletta (the capital), and the “Pomzkizillious Museum os Toys” of Gozo, the island located north of Malta that forms, along with Comino, this beautiful Mediterranean country.

The "Pomzkizillious Museum os Toys" is the best known of the two, a small private museum created in the 70s, belonging to a couple of Britons who decided to open their collection of toys to the public, among which are antiques and unique pieces .

The collection includes toys from all over Europe and even traditional Maltese toys from decades ago. Wooden, ceramic, tin, handmade relics, etc., all combined with brush strokes on the history of toys in Malta and its manufacturing process.

As a curiosity, we will say that "Pomskizillious" is a word invented by the famous illustrator Edward Lear, to describe the landscape of the coast of Gozo (impressive) during his visit in the mid-19th century.

He Visiting hours The Pomzkizillious Museum, located in Xaghra, in an old farmhouse, is: Saturdays and holidays from 10 am to 1 pm. (winter), Thursday, Friday and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (April) and from Monday to Saturday from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (From May to October). It closes in January, and admission costs € 1.75 for adults and € 0.70 for children.

With respect to Valletta Toy Museum, located on Republic Street, one of the main streets of the capital, and open Monday through Friday in the morning. Admission costs € 2.33 for adults and children are free.
