Once we talked to you about the restaurants friends of the children, and if we had to talk about cinemas friends of the children, probably the definition would be this project that we are talking about today. Cinebebés is an initiative that I recently discovered, after having attended one of its sessions. Cinebebés, to go to the cinema with babies and children, can be enjoyed in Palma de Mallorca and is organized by the Maternal and Child Circle of Mallorca.
These are specially organized movie sessions so that mothers, fathers and companions can go with their babies. It is important to note that the films are chosen by parents through a survey through the Cinebebés website, and they can be both children's films and for an adult audience.
Thus, for films that are not for all audiences it is recommended that babies under 18 months do not go, because the images are beginning to follow and could be detrimental to their development. For the rest, the whole family can go. Of course, taking into account that the movie we may find out a little ...
This happened last Friday, which was screened "The Smurfs" in the usual room, in the Porto Pi Terrazas de Palma Multiplexes. The room is equipped to care for babies, the lights do not go out and the sound is not very loud. There were a lot of people (the capacity was completed) and as the sessions are somewhat cheaper than the usual (4'5 euros) families with older children take the opportunity to go.
So, with so many babies and children, it was sometimes difficult to follow the argument (and you will understand that it was not very complicated in the case of "The Smurfs").
I don't know how the adult cinema experience with young babies will be, there may not be so much fuss, although the sound so low (which is completely understandable, there are babies who could be scared or wake up at high volume) does not just convince me To watch a movie in the cinema. The "baby label" advice is not always followed.
Of course, there is a changing table, a space in front of the padded screen and with toys for the little ones, they distribute a little gift ... A festive and very familiar atmosphere that is obviously not designed to see a movie in the cinema in the "traditional" way. But anyway the initiative is great, and one of its first objectives define it this way:
One of the objectives of the Association Maternal and Child Circle of Mallorca is the integration, and with Cinebebés we plan to replace this lack, organizing these special film sessions (and future other cultural activities) thinking about new families, especially mothers, who They are mostly those who spend the first months with their baby exclusively, and they need more than ever spaces where they can interact with other mothers and be able to enjoy an activity for adults, but where the presence of babies is also appropriate.
After the film session, a “coffee for parents” is proposed in one of the premises of the Porto Pi Shopping Center, where the cinemas are located. The Maternal and Child Circle also offers talks and other interesting activities about babies and motherhood on the island.
Therefore, because we like that babies, moms and dads with them, and children, can be without being called attention by doing what is done at their ages (breastfeeding, crying, playing, running, screaming ...) , where children are welcomed with open arms and respected, we like the Cinebebés initiative and its cinema sessions with babies and children in Mallorca.
