Cooking with children: Pancakes by Dora la Exploradora

Dora the explorer It is one of the most fashionable cartoons of the moment (at least in my house for my 2 year old son). Squeezing my head thinking about what recipe to do for cook with my son, appeared to me telling me that I wanted a Dora's cupcake. So searching the web, I found some nice Dora the Explorer pancakes, easier to prepare than cupcakes and more suitable for a child's diet. So we put both hands to work ...

Although it may not seem like it, I assure you they are very easy to do. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

1 cup dark chocolate 2 tablespoons cream cheese Pancake dough (you can buy it already prepared or you can use your favorite recipe) Blueberries Tomato sauce or ketchup

Necessary material

Vegetable paper Adhesive tape Disposable pastry bag or plastic bag A drawing of Dora (pancake size) to trace the hair. (On this page you can download a silhouetted template of Dora that will be great (you have to click where it says "Dora's Hair Template""Bowl and saucepan to heat the chocolate in a water bath

Preparation

  1. We put paper on the drawing of Dora and put tape on the sides so that it does not move.
  2. We undo the chocolate in the Maria bath and put it in the pastry bag or plastic bag (in a corner). We cut the tip of the bag to make a small hole (3 mm). We follow the silhouette of Dora's hair in our template and fill it with chocolate.
  3. Let the sheet cool in the fridge for 10 minutes.
  4. We prepare the dough of the cupcakes and cook them as we normally do (in a small pan with a little butter or olive oil).
  5. When Dora's hair is already hard (chocolate) we carefully remove it from the vegetable paper and place it on the pancake (if there is enough pancake we will cut it with a knife so that it does not protrude from the hair).
  6. We put the cream cheese in another pastry bag and cut the tip again. With the cheese we will draw the white of the eye of Dora (half circumference with the round side up). We place the blueberries on the cheese to finish making the eyes.
  7. To draw the mouth, I have put a little red dye in the rest of the cream cheese and I have drawn it with the pastry bag just as I have done with the eyes. Although you can use anything else you can think of: tomato, jelly, ketchup ...
