"Because you can do it all," the photo shoot that shows that girls can be athletes and princesses at the same time

"Sports are not for girls"or"girls must be delicate and feminine", are some of the sexist phrases that children listen to since childhood, and of course, we must avoid. We know that every boy and girl can be what they want, but, Does that mean they must choose between one thing or another?

A mother realized this and decided to take a series of photographs, showing that girls can dress like princesses and, at the same time, be athletes and athletes, because they can do and be everything they want, including both at the same time.

Heather Mitchell is a mother and photographer in Alabama, United States. Within her multiple activities as a mother, she takes and accompanies her eight-year-old daughter to her softball training. Recently, during one of those workouts, Another mother told him that despite being on the team, her daughter was not athletic, because she was a very feminine girl.

In Babies and more 'A boy can also', a campaign that encourages children to take out their feminine side

The other mother's comment, left Heather thinking that her daughter shouldn't have to choose between being one or the other, remembering that when she was younger, she also played sports and used to use lipstick in each game:

"Our daughters shouldn't have to choose. My parents taught me that I could be what I wanted to be when I grew up", comments Heather in an interview for Today, referring to you can be an athlete and you can also be feminine at the same time, without having to fall into those stereotypes that say that girls who play sports are "tomboys" or that "princesses don't play rough."

Therefore, she decided to take some pictures of her daughter, dressed as a princess, but surrounded by her gloves and softballs. After the session, he decided to share the images with his friends and family in his personal Facebook account, to show that his daughter could be an athlete and princess, without one thing being fought with the other.

But what I might not expect was to see that he liked his message so much that he began receiving messages from other parents with sports daughters, asking that he also take pictures like the one he had done to his daughter and make a series with that theme.

Heather decided to announce that she would make a small series of photographs similar to those of her daughter, and the quota she had estimated to take the photographs was quickly filled.

Subsequently, Heather shared the images in a post on her Facebook page, which she accompanied with a simple phrase: "Because you can do it all." The post quickly went viral and has been shared more than 191,000 times on Facebook, with comments that applaud Heather's message and even they encourage her to continue doing sessions like this, including more sports and more girls.

This photo session reminds us that there are still many gender stereotypes to tear down and phrases that we should stop saying to girls, because they can be what they want, and the To like to play sports or be an athlete, you are not fighting with being feminine or wearing a dress.
