"My guide": A poem for Father's Day (2013)

Today is day 17 and that means that there are only two days left before the Father's day. It is very likely that you have already prepared some gifts or some detail. Perhaps it is some drawing of your children or some craft they have done in school, who are very given to do these things.

Whatever the way in which your children are going to tell their father how much they love him is always to thank a poem or writing that accompanies the matter and, as every year, I bring you a poem for Father's Day. This year's title is "My guide" and in him I wanted to express, in a few words (it is a sonnet with an extra verse), a gratitude for the patience and affection that parents profess for their children on a day-to-day basis.

My guide

After hundreds of days dedicating yourself to me, after hundreds of nights accompanying my dream, finally comes the day of thanks in which with these words I turn to you. Kisses, caresses, hugs to a thousand, words, stories and many games, I do not know if I can never thank all the time you have dedicated me from start to finish. You have known how to be patient, you have transformed tears into smiles and you have flooded my life with your presence. You have known to be a light breeze, the one that in the overwhelm refreshes. You have been, and that is why these letters, a light in my life, my support, my guide.
