Nature sometimes has very strange ways of telling us that it will not always do things as expected. In births with twins, sometimes, take the opportunity to do things as rare as this that we explain today, of Two twins who were born with 24 days, not hours, of difference.
They are the children of Lindalva Pinheiro da Silva, a 35-year-old woman from Boston, who was 24 weeks pregnant and broke waters. He was very scared. She knew it was too soon and she kept telling her husband. They ran to the hospital where they were able to stop the delivery four days. After that time he began to have more and more contractions. Three bids later, only three, Alexander was born, a baby who weighed 750 grams and that he went into intensive care to do his best to survive.
After Alexander's arrival, although they were waiting for his brother, nothing else happened. The contractions are over and Lindalva's cervix closed again. Alexander's placenta stayed inside, with his brother, and although it was a risk for the mother and the baby, because of the risk of infection, they decided not to intervene to try so that the second baby could continue to develop inside the belly normally. Obviously, he was very controlled at all times in case something had to be done in relation to that placenta, taking preventive antibiotics.
Three weeks later, actually, 24 days later, mom started having contractions again. The second birth was normal and Ronaldo was born in it, which despite being prematurely weighed 1.45 kg and was not taken to intensive care.
Now three months have passed since that and the two babies weigh about 2.8 kg. The difference is that Alexander, who was in a hurry to leave, will have to be intervened to help him with some vision problems and a possible hernia. In a few weeks they can go home and as the doctors explain, they can lead a normal life.
