PlayStation presents the First Edition of PlayStation Awards

Sony Computer Entertainment Spain has presented a new initiative with which it wants to continue promoting and supporting the sector of local video game development. The prizes of the I PlayStation Awards Edition they are born with the vocation of becoming a national reference of support to independent projects, originals and of quality To make them happen.

In the video below you can listen to Roberto Yeste (in the image above), New Development Manager from Sony Computer Entertainment Spain, which explains that these awards “are a recognition to all independent and young studies with talent and good ideas, which we want to continue supporting as part of our Local Development strategy started in 2008.” Roberto also explains that this initiative joins other projects that are also committed to promoting national talent with the PlayStation First academic program and with the development of video games by independent Spanish studios, for example, Daniel Sánchez-Crespo, creator of the Invizimals, who also speaks in the video and encourages all developers to participate. In addition, Roberto continues, "Playstation has been the first in the videogames sector that has strongly supported Spanish development to bring it to excellence, both inside and outside our borders."

The prizes will be distributed in five categories, a principal, to Best Game of 2014, and four secondary, to Most Innovative Gameat Game with the Best Artat Best Use of PlayStation Platforms and at Best Children's Game. The winner of the PlayStation Award for Best Game of 2014 will receive 10,000 euros in cash to finance the project, PlayStation development kits, a physical space to work on the project for six months in Madrid, the publication of the game on PlayStation Network for PlayStation 4 , PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita and a promotion and marketing campaign in own media valued at 200,000 euros.

The I PlayStation Awards Edition is aimed at small studios and young developers Spaniards, as well as Spanish companies that have invoiced less than 100,000 euros in 2013. The only requirements that the teams that attend the awards must meet are to be composed of at least one game designer, a programmer and a artist (accrediting their resumes) and know how to develop with UNITY technology.
