"For being a girl": in search of a direct improvement in the lives of 4 million girls around the world

This is the eighth edition of the global campaign For Being a Girl who develops International Plan, and aims to end gender discrimination that affects millions of girls worldwide. This discrimination is especially observed in access to quality education, since there are many barriers that prevent it (work, violence in the school environment, early marriage, ...).

From next Monday different activities will be developed within the Campaign, to culminate on Saturday 11 with the celebration of the International Day of the Girl. On that date indicated five Spanish cities they will dye their most emblematic monuments pink.

They are the Hanging Houses of Cuenca, the walls of Ávila, the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, the Palace of the Magdalena of Santander, and the Torre de la Vela, of the Alhambra in Granada

With the challenge of meeting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) on the horizon, Being a Girl seeks the Direct improvement in the lives of 4 million girls around the world through the Plan programs that facilitate access to school, professional training, child participation and child protection.

If there is no real investment in girls, the Millennium Goals cannot be met. And the solution to many teenage pregnancies, early marriage cases, mutilations etc. It can be in the guarantee of nine years of Primary and Secondary education for all girls.
