At last! The mother's new emoji breastfeeding her baby is already on our keyboards

For a year now, we have been hearing that "soon" the emoji of the nursing mother would come to our keyboards, a necessary symbol to normalize breastfeeding. We had a bottle, but the most natural way to feed a baby was not represented.

It has been waiting and begging, we have been confused with the final design, but now, with the latest iOS 11.1 update finally the mother's new emoji breastfeeding her baby is already on the keyboards WhatsApp for iPhone and iPad, and in some versions of Android.

The proposal was submitted by Rachel Lee, a registered nurse at the University College of the London Hospital that aims to "fill a gap in the current standard that omits the most popular form of nutrition for newborn babies." It is also said that another request was made by Berenice Morzone, an Argentine nutritionist who initiated a petition on Change.org to make it possible.

The proposal to add breastfeeding to the official list of emoji characters was presented to Unicode, the organization that oversees the creation of emoji. In 2016 it was one of the most voted icons in Emojipedia and finally it was approved to be integrated in five skin tones in update 11.1 along with 70 other new emojis.

For other platforms, these are the approved designs:

After a long bureaucratic path, finally if you have an iPhone and you are a nursing mother you can already use this emoticon to communicate what you do most of the day without having to explain it in words.

On Android, it has been incorporated into the latest Beta version of WhatsApp. To enjoy them, you have to adhere to the beta program, available on the WhatsApp page on Google Play. If not, you will have to wait a few more weeks, since they will begin to be incorporated in the models with Android 8.0 and will gradually reach all the models.
