They did not know that their baby came with Down syndrome, and the video of her birth thrills tens of thousands of people

It was the fifth pregnancy for Amber and it was also going to be the last, so he preferred not knowing your baby's gender beforehand. The pregnancy passed normally, and although nothing made one suspect that the baby came with Down syndrome, the woman always had the feeling that something was different on that occasion.

Amber gave birth in a maternity center, accompanied by her husband and four children. The birth of the baby, as well as the moment in which they discover that he has Down syndrome, was collected in a emotional video shared on social networks and that has excited tens of thousands of people.

A different pregnancy

Amber and Fernando never planned to have five children. In fact, as the woman reported to the day CafeMom always thought they would stay with only one child. But after the birth of her first child, the motherhood changed his way of seeing life and immediately they decided to look for a little brother.

Her second pregnancy was twin, six years later her fourth daughter was born and just 19 months later she became pregnant with her fifth baby. But on this new occasion this mother from Texas wanted everything to happen differently

"Since this was my fourth and last pregnancy I wanted there to be some surprise factor because we had really planned not to have any more children. So I talked to my husband and my children and we decided that the sex of the baby was an unknown until birth day. We all thought he was going to be a child! "- he explained to CafeMom.

According to Amber, although during pregnancy she had the same sensations as in the other four previous occasions, his feelings and hunches were different. She explained that even though the ultrasound showed that everything was going well and that her baby was healthy, she felt that there was something different and that it was not simply due to keeping her sex secret.

"I remember thinking that the fact of being 34 years old (35 at the time of delivery) raised the risk of Down syndrome in my baby. But I also thought that the test results would not change anything and that I would continue to love and desire my baby above all else. "

Your baby was born with Down syndrome

Amber's birth took place in a maternity center, assisted by midwives and in the company of her family. She gave birth to her fifth baby in a delivery bath and immediately knew that her son had Down syndrome.

"The first moments I just thought I finally had my sweet baby with me. I was overwhelmed with emotion. But as soon as I looked him in the face I saw him. I thought to myself: my baby has Down syndrome"

But immediately his children approached, happy for the birth of his new brother and wanting to know if he was a boy or a girl.

"I had completely forgotten to look at her sex, and to my surprise, it was a girl!. At that moment, my thoughts about Down syndrome disappeared because I was really excited to have another girl!"

During the first moments nobody said anything about the Down syndrome of the little girl, but when Amber left the bathtub and began breastfeeding her daughter, she reaffirmed her beliefs:

"When I started breastfeeding I felt that everything was different from the previous times. I barely had strength and his eyes were very small and they looked different. But nobody told me anything and then I started to think I was crazy to believe something like that"

Moments before leaving the center, the midwife broke the news: it seemed that little Amadeus had "some markers" that could indicate a possible Down syndrome. And that was when Amber breathed in relief and felt that she was not crazy, and that all the sensations and hunches she had experienced during her pregnancy had a reason:

"At that moment I was only right to think, I KNEW! I was not crazy! I knew I was right! I knew it throughout the pregnancy, but immediately I became a working bee" - he explains - "I wanted to know everything that involved having a baby with Down syndrome to be able to take better care of my daughter Amadeus. We didn't care about this condition because we were all crazy in love with her and with all her chromosomes. "

"For us, Amadeus is one more baby: she needs milk, she cries when it is wet or uncomfortable and she smiles when she sees us. Together with her we are learning many things. She is our daughter and we are her family. For us she is perfect, and we don't see a diagnosis or a label"

Amadeus was born with a congenital heart defect that kept her hospitalized the first days of life and recently, with five months of age, has had to be cirurgic intervention. For his siblings, separating from the little girl has been complicated but his parents have tried to take him in the best possible way.

In addition, they have carefully explained to children what Down syndrome is and why it is not a disease. They want them to understand that Amadeus is like all other children, and that He has the same needs for love and protection as the rest of his brothers.

"It is our job to inform and educate all those people who are willing to see things from another perspective and to accompany us on this trip" "
