In Spain there is still no breast milk banks, that says the news of the way, this issue is not to ignore, because knowing the benefits of breast milk, mothers who could not breastfeed, could turn to these banks to feed their baby with pasteurized breast milk from donor mothers. We all know how important it is for the baby to feed him, and more in his first year, and although the formula milks are close to breast milk, they are not so beneficial.

The news has jumped to the media thanks to Professor Ángel Nogales, pediatrician and academic of the Royal National Academy of Medicine. In his words, sick children whose mothers cannot breastfeed could be fed properly. There are many benefits provided by breast milk in all aspects, whether physical or psychic.

According to the news, in Spain there are no breast milk banks, however, in the Balearic Islands there is one, but it is the only one we have found. It started operating in July 2001 and if you want to participate in your donor program, you just have to visit their website. Perhaps it is difficult, but you should not be reluctant, breast milk from another mother is preferable than not prepared. According to this pediatrician, despite the fact that children who have been fed artificial milk have developed properly, the effects that the baby can have on the structural development of his organism due to the absence of essential nutrients from breast milk are not known.

The current pace of life, especially the labor aspect, has affected the decrease in breastfeeding rates, even many mothers who start this feeding at birth, stop breastfeeding at two or three months. If we know how beneficial it is, then, other issues should not be allowed to be more valued than the proper development of the child. But perhaps, there are circumstances that prevent it, there is no doubt about that.

The creation of these breast milk banks is really a positive option for all children who cannot enjoy this healthy and beneficial food.
