Against chickenpox, vaccinate your child

It seems that there is still no awareness of the importance of early chickenpox vaccination, and in order to reach all parents, the AEP (Spanish Association of Pediatrics, has launched a national campaign, Against chickenpox, vaccinate your child.

As we talked about in Chickenpox and its vaccine, this contagious disease is benign, but it can get complicated even causing death. In Spain, 15 out of every 400,000 children die because of chickenpox, and as the president of the AEP, Alfonso Delgado Rubio says, "no child should die from a disease preventable by a vaccine."

With this campaign in which informative brochures will be distributed in pediatric consultations, health centers and nurseries, they intend to make all parents aware that they vaccinate their children from 12 months of age and before 2 years, as studies indicate that 85% of children pass chickenpox before 5 years, so administering the vaccine between 10 and 14 years, only benefits a few. The varicella vaccine administered after 12 months will not only prevent the child from suffering from this disease, but also only one dose will be necessary, because when they are older, two are necessary. It will also prevent this contagious disease from passing to parents.
