The baby has legañas

Babies produce much more mucus than we do, and sometimes their tear duct is clogged, which prevents tears from flowing normally, this causes a secretion that becomes legañas.

This whitish, yellowish or greenish secretion comes from the mucosa and glands of the eyelids that, when in contact with the air, dry out around the baby's eyes and can "seal the eyes", these blemishes are also created if you have conjunctivitis. It is very important to clean your eyes well, if your eyelids are stuck, never try to open them dry.

For a proper cleaning, it is enough to soak a sterile gauze with physiological serum and moisten the eyelids to soften the legañas, later and with great care that they do not enter the eyes, we will remove the milky remains. Hygiene must be extreme in this process in order to avoid possible infections, so for each eye a new gauze will be used, and the bacteria that are in one eye will hardly pass to the other.

It is possible that the pediatrician recommends a cream or drops if conjunctivitis exists, in addition to some massage in the wall of the nose if the excess of legañas is caused by an obstruction of the tear.

Performing this care two or three times a day, you will make your child feel much better while preventing possible infections
