Physical exercise during pregnancy

Rubén Barakat, professor of the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences INEF of the Polytechnic University of Madrid conducted a study of 142 pregnant women in order to know the effects of a physical exercise program during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.

The program was based on soft and simple body movements accompanied by music, with them working different muscle areas, a moderate physical activity that is beneficial during pregnancy, since it can favor the control of the weight of babies that are too large, avoiding possible complications that lead to childbirth.

The conclusion of the study is not new, moderate physical exercise during pregnancy, provided there are no medical contraindications, promotes the health of mom and baby. From this study, the Pearson Alambra publishing house has published a book, Physical exercise during pregnancy, awarded by the General Foundation of the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

In this work we find an exhaustive analysis of the aspects that derive from the realization of physical exercise during pregnancy, in addition to favoring the development of the future baby, it helps that the mother does not gain too much weight during pregnancy, something necessary to avoid problems such as diabetes, hypertension, etc.
