Asthma, the most frequent disease in childhood

We have been talking on the blog about the increase in asthma cases that are occurring in the youngest.

And indeed, Dr. Eduardo González Pérez-Yarza, a specialist in childhood respiratory diseases and member of the asthma area of the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR), confirms that Asthma has become the most frequent disease in childhood.

In most cases, asthma symptoms usually appear before the child turns two.

The causes are not precise, but they are undoubtedly due to a general change in lifestyle over twenty years ago, when the incidence of the disease in children was half that today.

As we have known, city children, as well as children with obesity are more likely to have asthma.

It is believed that among the factors that are causing a great increase in cases are some that in general it is not within our reach to change such as dust in the environment, unhealthy air, the use of heating or air conditioning.

However, there are others such as changes in diet and the absence of physical activity that parents can and should modify to avoid it.
