State of the World's Mothers 2007, Spain remains

Yesterday the eighth index of mothers that shows the best and worst countries to become a mother after studying the welfare of mothers and children from 150 countries was announced. Sweden continues to top the list, and Spain remains as in the previous year, in ninth place.

The indicators analyzed to know the State of the World's Mothers 2007 they are: Risk of maternal mortality throughout life, Percentage of women using contraceptive methods, Births attended by qualified personnel, Life expectancy of women, Years of schooling of women, Relationship between wages and men and women, Participation of women in the state government, Mortality of children under five, Percentage of children under five with moderate or severe weight, Schooling rate, Relationship between boys and girls in primary education or Percentage of population with access to drinking water .

The list of the ten best countries to be a mother is made by order Sweden, Iceland, Norway, New Zealand, Australia, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Spain and Germany. In these countries there are high levels of health, education and economic status of mothers and children.

They emphasize that Spain continues to outperform Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the United States as a mother-child life, and the latter has also descended on the list, ranking 26. Nine of the ten worst on the list are from Sub-Saharan Africa, In these countries they live in very bad conditions, one in five children will die before the age of one, one in thirteen mothers dies from pregnancy, more than half of the children suffer from malnutrition and 50% of the population does not have access to drinking water, without forgetting that only three girls for every four boys will receive primary education.
