Increased control in pregnant women in India to prevent abortion

With the purpose of ending the selective abortions which are carried out in India, a measure that can be very effective has been devised, it is register all pregnant women in the country so that the government has proof of that.

The problem of selective abortions is really serious, when the couple who expects a baby knows that she is a girl, in many cases she does not hesitate to abort, since a girl represents an important economic burden when she grows up and wishes to marry. Parents give their daughter along with a significant dowry according to their laws. As always, the economic issue gets in the way of the parents' feelings, who do not hesitate to make the baby disappear. The new measure would reduce the large number of clandestine abortions that occur. A significant fact that this situation is taking place is provided by some experts in statistics that show that the births of girls have been reduced during the last 20 years.

Opponents of this measure are already appearing, the NGO Women Power Connect indicates that it is a very strong interference with people's private lives. They may be right, but few solutions exist, or they eliminate the system of skills (something very unlikely) or they must resort to control, as in this case, to avoid the indiscriminate killing of babies by their gender. We hope that the Indian Minister who has proposed the new measure will succeed in the fight against abortion.
