Receding education in Spain

Education in Spain does not reach the approval of the European Union, Of the five indicators that mark the success of education objectives in the EU, Spain only approves one. We suspend in the improvement of reading comprehension, in the reduction of school failure, in the increase of diplomas obtained by different subjects in the area of science and of course in the number of young people who attend compulsory education.

The situation is increasingly dramatic, in our country they allow the passage of course despite having suspended up to three subjects, the grades are not clear in some stages of education, "needs to improve" or "progress properly" says little of what our children have learned in school. To this we must add that the passage of ESO to the Baccalaureate is really hard without a gradual ascending line. The drastic change in level makes many children suspend and decide to abandon their studies, there really is a setback in Spanish education. In the past the study was perhaps somewhat more severe but the results were more satisfactory, there was an ascending line that gradually increased the difficulty in the studies. Today that line has disappeared and causes many school failures. If this does not change, many of the children attending primary school will not reach their professional goals in life because the education provided will be the main obstacle.

Spain is at the tail of the European Union, the representative of the European Union who has prepared the study on the school situation, Odile Quintín, indicates that our country has a fundamental problem, a high level of dropout. But it must be understood that school dropout is generated from the first day of school life, when the child is very young.

It is said that the cause of the high school dropout is due to the high demand for employment that exists and does not require high academic levels, this reminds us of the phrase of some parents "if you do not go to study, you will have to work", bad phrase by the way. Dropping out of school would be much smaller if children were well prepared from a very young age. All parents wish that our children prosper with their studies and access a job that is more comfortable than what we have been able to achieve and this desire must be created since the child is only a few years old.

Our children should enjoy an adequate education, without sudden changes and in a constant way, perhaps this way the dropout rate will be reduced. The Spanish government must put the batteries in this matter, there are many parents who begin to distrust the current educational method and we must understand that we are talking about the future of our children.
