Vitamin B deficiency before pregnancy can increase the blood pressure and weight of the future baby

On several occasions we have talked about the importance of preparing the body before pregnancy, in fact, pregnancy planning would solve some problems and deficiencies that may occur during pregnancy. Now we know another new study that shows the importance of this preparation, especially if what is desired is that the child can be born healthy and without any problems for its development.

Apparently, Vitamin B deficiency before pregnancy can increase the blood pressure and weight of the future baby, the researchers from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom, conducted a study in which data were taken from two groups of sheep composed of 25 females each. The first group was given a balanced diet and adjusted to their needs, the second was provided with a diet lacking in vitamin B. After eight weeks, artificial insemination was carried out, then the embryos of the sheep were extracted with a diet vitamin B deficiency and were implanted in sheep that had had a balanced diet. After the birth of the lambs, their control and evaluation were carried out, the results indicate that the lack of vitamin B caused that the descendants that were male suffered up to 25% more likely to suffer from obesity and the blood pressure they showed was more high than normal average.

The worst are the results that show that genetics are altered, especially in male specimens. This study can be applied to humans given some similarities in the development of pregnancy, be it prenatal or postnatal.

All studies carried out so far always show the importance of the diet and the preparation of the body of the future mother, therefore, if possible, it is best to make a pregnancy planning and always consult a specialist on the status of the woman and habits that must change.

All the details of the study have been published in the specialized electronic journal, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
