Some children worry about their weight after 6 years of age

We can hardly believe it, from 6 years of age some girls and boys begin to worry about their weight, these data are derived from the study carried out by the Sanitas Foundation. Up to 36% of girls between the ages of 6 and 14 say they are worried about their weight, the same goes for boys, although in a somewhat smaller proportion, 28%. These data show that in some way the campaigns and the information provided through the media takes effect, also the children's environment, of course.

For this study the data of 1,620 families with children aged between 6 and 14 years have been taken, the intention of this study was subject to thorough knowledge of the habits and lifestyle of infants. Interviews with parents and children have provided some answers that surely more than one reader already knew or at least intuited. Up to 67% of working mothers indicate that it is difficult to promote healthy eating in their children, since it is quite difficult to reconcile work and personal life. The work should be much more flexible and adapt to the mother's life in order to properly raise and educate the child. The work and the shortage of time does not allow certain meals to be made, which ends up abusing prepared meals, something that is not beneficial for children in full development, when the most important thing is to nourish themselves with fresh and healthy products.

Mothers have the concern that their children eat well and eat everything, this can lead to certain excesses that end up leading to overweight and obesity, it is necessary to know what are the appropriate nutritional amounts for children at each stage, something that In many occasions it is ignored. According to the study, there are many mothers who have a special concern that their children do not suffer from the so-called 21st century epidemic, but apparently do not have enough information on how to act to prevent it. This point shows how necessary it is to expand information and educational campaigns for parents and children.

Many children continue to eat badly and without adult supervision, there are food excesses that are aggravated especially on weekends, parents are more permissive due to the need for rest after a hard work week, pecking is abused ... this is factors that, together with the lack of physical activity, condition overweight.

Much remains to be done to improve the infant food situation and therefore, the risks of overweight and obesity, surveys of this type contribute to improving awareness of the problem and trying to address it more effectively.

Hopefully one day not too far away we can talk about overweight and childhood obesity as something really exceptional.
