Irritable uterus in the pregnant woman

The irritable uterus in the pregnant woman appears when she suffers extemporaneous contractions or ahead of time and before this there is the probability of premature delivery. It is also called "uterine neuralgia." The contractions can be isolated or weak, and in that case they are perceived as a pain similar to that of menstruation, but they could also be frequent, intense and more painful.

If there is a case of frequent and intense contractions, you must immediately go to the specialist to determine its scope. Many doctors believe that the situation should be controlled by sending the pregnant woman to rest and sometimes through specific medications to control the contractions. This would prevent premature pregnancy.

In case of detecting structural anomalies of the uterus, surgical correction could prevent future premature births.

In order for this phenomenon of premature contractions to occur and the uterus to become more "irritable", it loses what is known as "uterine quescence" (active relaxation of the uterus) and a series of hormones that cause the appearance of uterine contractions, with the consequent changes in the cervix (which softens, shortens and dilates).

All this, of course, before reaching the 37th week of gestation, which is when it is considered that it has reached "term". And that is when the erasure, softening and dilation of the cervix up to 2.5 or 3 centimeters can be achieved over a period of days or weeks without annoying contractions and as a normal preparation at the time of delivery.

If your contractions, strong and painful, and not those of preparation or contractions of Braxton Hicks, have arrived early, it may be a symptom of irritability of the uterus, so the visit to the gynecologist is necessary.
