November 29, Premature Children's Day

With the intention of honoring premature children and their families and raising awareness about prematurity, this year First Premature Children's Day will be celebrated on November 29 in Spain.

In recent years the number of premature babies has grown significantly. At present, between 8 and 10% of children are born before term, nothing less than double than 15 years ago. Therefore, it is necessary to encourage actions that promote a shift towards humanization in the care of prematurity and support for families.

Next Sunday, associations of parents of premature children, under the umbrella of the Hera project, they organize a meeting at the Teatro Circo Price in Madrid, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Admission is free and in addition to workshops and talks, children between 3 and 12 years old can participate in the construction of a Premature Child Hospital with Playmobil toys.

The event is held with the intention of appealing to parents, children, families and professionals to share their experiences and to reflect on the situation of prematurity.

It is evident that the birth of babies ahead of time is an increasingly frequent circumstance and the celebration of the first day of the premature child in Spain is an interesting way to seek support and solutions.
