The day after Reyes

A day after the Magi have left in the houses the gifts that the children have asked for, and those that they have not asked for, it is time to make a reflection on the toys they have brought.

Most of the time, the gifts that the children have received are those that they have requested in the letter. We do it to please them and because the trick of the letter is to know what makes them more excited to have.

Either the children make a list of things from which the parents select what to give, or the children ask for a single gift, to which we usually add some more because we have found it too modest. Surely in many houses there will have been an unnecessary avalanche of gifts for not knowing how to plan.

The point is that the excitement of the first moment has been left behind and we find the house full of gifts, between Christmas and Reyes. Some successful, but others useless and others unsuitable for their stage of development.

Maybe when we buy them, we don't have an idea, but when we see our children play with them, we can see if the gifts we have bought have been successful or not.

Probably the gift that he asked for so much has disappointed him because on TV he does a lot of things that at home he did not, or on the contrary to the gift that we had less faith and we have bought “to fill in” has been the most popular.

A problem to be solved in almost every house these days is “where will we keep the gifts”, an issue that we do not usually consider when it comes to getting carried away by Christmas consumerism. A good measure is for each new toy to donate an old one and thus avoid accumulating toys that they no longer use.

Anyway, I hope that in your homes the gifts have been a success and that the children are fully enjoying the toys they have received. If this has not been the case, there will be some things that we should consider more next year.

How about the gifts for your houses?
