Noelle and Newborn Hal, robots for childbirth assistance

A few weeks ago we saw a curious robotic labor simulator with forceps, but the field of medical practices for childbirth does not end here. Noelle and Newborn Hal are a mom and baby robots that have everything they need to simulate different types of birth.

These dolls are being used at the Munich University Clinic for students to do their internships, and it may have been extended to other Medical Universities. The truth is that it is a very complete team, it has all the necessary complements both maternal-fetal control (different monitors) and interchangeable parts, bleeding simulators ...

You can practice vaginal delivery, caesarean section, suction extraction, suturing of different types of episiotomy ... In my opinion it is good that future doctors can practice with these dolls that try to mimic real situations so successfully. Although as they say, then reality always surpasses fiction.

In addition, I hope that, together with this instruction so artificial and focused on instrumentalized processes, which will have to be used in the future, at least the same efforts are made to instruct that childbirth is a natural process that can also be carried out with the minimum intervention whenever the situation of the mother and the baby allow it.

But if there are even baby robots for the practice of first-time parents, in the field of medical delivery assistance could not be otherwise. I imagine that a student is not allowed to practice in real births, so these simulators, which approximate what they can to a real situation, are an interesting option.

In any case, Dolls of this type to perform virtual childbirth practices seem like an achievement of technology, and hopefully they serve to carry out assistance to more effective deliveries.
