Recently the VIII Fedalma Congress (Spanish Federation of Breastfeeding Associations) in Madrid, which we already talked about in your call, under the slogan "Breastfeeding for more than one: a right and a responsibility of all". Its results and conclusions will be of great interest to parents and professionals interested in breastfeeding and its promotion. It is precisely these types of acts in which they share the new scientific information and advances that will later have an impact on better care for nursing mothers.

Its priority objective is to raise awareness among parents, professionals, and the whole society, in breastfeeding. On this occasion they have focused on breastfeeding for more than one child, breastfeeding in new types of family and the necessary support of the father.

In Congress, organized by the Multilacta association and held in Alcalá de Henares, there was the assistance of fathers and mothers, health professionals and volunteers of pro-lactation associations. Some of the issues discussed will be developed in more detail in following topics.

Some of these specific issues that were addressed were: "Breastfeeding and society" treated by Immaculate Marcos and Dr. Emilio Santos, the "Complications during breastfeeding", of which María Delado, Alba Padró, doctors Juan Miguel Rodríguez and Francisco Vera, the way to "Adapt breastfeeding to the needs" of each family, in which Dr. Emilio Santos, Gema Cárcamo and Eulalia Torrás participated again and, to close the Congress, "Breastfeeding and breast cancer" , presentation presented by Dr. Mª Teresa Díez Fernández.
