Use of the baby carriage: only what is necessary

The stroller is a great invention of the world of childcare. Undoubtedly, there is a before and after its appearance. It facilitates the transport of the baby from one place to another, we have it completely incorporated into our lives, but sometimes it falls into indiscriminate use. The stroller should only be used as necessary.

The first strollers, cradles with wheels and handlebars to transport them, appear towards the end of the 19th century among the wealthiest families. Towards the middle of the twentieth century they began to gain popularity and settled throughout society, making a breakthrough to this day in which each baby has one or more strollers.

Let's reflect on some questions. Is it really necessary to have two, or sometimes three, strollers? Is it necessary for the baby to spend so much time sitting in the stroller? Is it necessary to use the stroller to walk a few meters? Comfortable is, but not necessary. The baby enjoys much more of a moment in his arms or "loose" in the park than sitting in the cart.

We will not deny that our life would not be the same without the baby's cart, much less our backs. This is a call to reflect on what parents have become accustomed to using the cart. Sometimes, from my point of view, more than use, abuse.

Load the baby, a good option

Every baby loves to be carried in arms. For newborns, being in contact with the mother is also a vital necessity. He cart prevents meeting that need restricting the closeness with the mother's body.

Today we find a lot of models of baby carriers, mei-tais, shoulder bags, scarves, backpacks, pouch ... Each mother or father can choose the one that best suits their tastes and needs.

So, when we have another option to transport the baby, we may leave the cart parked for a while and let's enjoy a ride with our baby in tow, a very rewarding experience for both.

It is a more affectionate way to transport it and the baby will feel more comfortable and calm. It is even a good method to relieve infant colic. One more reason to dispense with the cart on certain occasions.

For a few meters ...

We have reached such a point that even to walk a few meters we lower the car cart, we deploy it and after five minutes we save it again.

For example, a couple of days ago. A few meters from the door of my daughters' school. A mother gets out of the car and unfolds the baby's cart to look for the child, which incidentally is two years old and knows how to walk perfectly.

Isn't it more practical to avoid the rattle of lowering, opening, closing and putting the baby's car in the car for just a few meters? Especially when the child is already alone, and if he does not walk, the arms are an excellent option in these cases. The baby so happy.

When the baby walks

As I commented above, when the baby is already walking I don't have to go all the time sitting in the cart. You can walk for a while or even pushing the cart, which you love, but it is not necessary that you stay a whole afternoon of strolling tied in your cart simply because we find the parents more comfortable.

The baby is not disabled and like every baby likes to explore, touch and discover. Of course, you always have to take your safety into account, the street is not the same as a mall or park.

Although he still does not walk alone, it is also logical that the child gets tired or bored of being in the same position for many hours. You can alternate the use of the cart with taking it in your arms (you will love to see everything from another perspective), or sit with the baby in the skirts to play with him for a while.

Put the world at your fingertips

In any park you can see babies sitting and tied in their carts depriving them of contact with other children and with the environment.

The child needs to interact, touch, know and experience new things. For that we have to put the whole world at your fingertips. By restricting their movements they are restricting the possibility of discovering the world in freedom.

This is not an attack on the cart, much less. We parents are grateful that this invention has reached our lives, but I think we should be more aware, for the benefit of our children, of use it only as necessary.
