Babies with literary tastes from the womb

Undoubtedly, the fetus in the womb receives multiple stimuli, especially in the final stretch of pregnancy. And although he will be once born when he fully develops his senses and his intellect, already in the womb the baby can have his particular literary tastes.

We will explain this that has nothing to do with gifted babies but with what our babies hear from the womb, before birth, one more way to communicate with the baby during pregnancy. Whether literature or music they hear when they are not yet born, these sounds do not substantially affect the intelligence of the little ones, but nevertheless they determine their preferences.

That is, we can be marking the future aesthetic tastes of our son, at least at an early age (probably in adolescence, that revolutionary stage in the development of people, there is little left of these first tastes).

Psychologists Anthony DeCasper and Melanie Spence asked pregnant women that, during the last trimester of pregnancy, read a passage of different literary works aloud daily for three minutes.

The works in question were: "The Cat in the Hat" by Dr. Theodor Seuss Geisel, or "The King, the Mice, and the Cheese" by Nancy and Eric Gurney.

Examined only a day or two after birth, babies who had been hearing Seuss in the womb preferred Seuss, and those who had heard "The King" preferred this work, even when it was someone other than the mother who read the stories.

This demonstrates that the babies already knew in advance the characteristic rhythm of the two works (for example, that of Seuss with rhymes) and they like to recognize them, as one who looks at a familiar face and comforts himself with it, rather than the face of a stranger.

This is undoubtedly related to the study we mentioned a while ago that pointed out how babies are bilingual already from the womb because they recognize two different languages to which they are exposed.

Therefore, our future children will not be smarter if we read them stories, but yes we can already influence your literary tastes from the womb, at least in the first stages of his life. It is not that it matters too much, because you will have time to read what you like later, and what really matters is that you recognize familiar voices (more than literary styles or rhythms) and that we communicate with him.
