The old man and the daisy is a story for children to learn to pay attention to their surroundings

'The old man and the daisy' It is a title recently edited by Narval, which has been written by Roberto Aliaga. It is a concise story but that brings us a lot, because one of the protagonists (the old man) is so connected to his precious daisy, that one day he discovers that she does not listen to him.

When you try to understand it, you realize that it is full of aphid and should find a solution. I think it is an ideal book for very young children (from five years old) who begin to be able to follow a narrative thread, and it is also written in capital letters.

It is a story that children can help them understand the concept of the food chain because it is clear how some animals serve as food for others. If initially it seems that the old man is wrong in his decisions, we finally discover with joy that persistence offers its fruits, and in addition to having solved the problem of the small flower, it will no longer be alone.

The main characters are the old man, the daisy and even the librarian. But we will also find ladybugs, spiders, scorpions and owls. All different but also important for maintaining balance.

A simple story that gives us much more than it seems, a story to learn to care for what we want, and to pay attention to what surrounds us. And without realizing it also to understand that books are the source of knowledge

Roberto Aliaga is a biologist and writer of children's and youth literature, in 2008 he won the Lazarillo Prize for an illustrated album and his works have been translated into 13 languages. Guridi is a teacher and illustrator, in 'The old man and the daisy' he gives us some sober drawings that will help children a lot to follow the story.

If you read it, you will enjoy it, as much as we do… that we have been able to know it thanks to the offer of Narval Editores.
