Five children in five minutes

My mother took nine years to have five children and, in total, fifteen to have the six she has now. Any father or mother of a family with so many children will surely say that they had to spend several years to have them all. This, however, is not what happens when a couple has "... illizos", and less if we talk about quintuplets or sextuplets.

In the case at hand, a couple from the United States went from having only one child to having six in just five minutes. They were born on Thursday of last week at the Medical Center of the University of Southwestern texas and will become part of the long history of quintuplets born in the US.

I say long because the average quintuplets born every year there is twelve. In 2009, for example, 16 American couples had quintuplets. In Spain the figure will be much lower, sure, although it is logical, next to the US, Spain is tiny.

Returning to the news, children born are three boys and two girls, children of Carrie and Gavin Jones, who already have an eight-year-old son named Isaac, and their names will be Will Edward, David Stephen, Marcie Jane, Seth Jared and Grace Elise (what a waste of imagination: 10 hit names!) .

For now they will be a few months in the hospital, until they grow up and are more prepared to live in this (inhospitable) world, since they were born with a weight of between 794 grams and 1.3 kilos, measuring between 31.7 and 39.3 centimeters .

The most curious thing is that the couple, seeing that they could not have a second child, used medication to favor ovulation, always with the intention of having only one more child, but discarding in vitro fertilization, knowing that sometimes multiple pregnancies occurred. Still they take it with humor and feel very happy to have extended the family, even if it was so quickly.

From here we can only wish you a lot of health and a lot of patience to take care of them and raise them with love, love and humor.
