Summer crafts: painting stones on rocky beaches

In Spain there are not only sandy beaches, so, unfortunately for parents, some of us must forget about the bucket and shovel that so much distract our children in summer.

These days we have been visiting Calahonda, at the house of some friends who have a daughter of the same age as our son, who was a little stunned to see that the beach we were going to had no sand ...

Luckily my friend already knows the story since she was little and went to the beach prepared with her beach fun kit to distract children on pebble beaches.
My friend took brushes and watercolors so we could all paint on the pebbles. But the game is not only about painting the rocks, here, what it is about, is that we all participate in the activity. I tell you how we did it:

First we leave the children take the watercolors and brushes and paint at will as we prepared to "try" to sunbathe lying on my back (something that I have not achieved since before I got pregnant, I think I have the darkest back of my life. Those of you who are parents know what I am talking about), After a couple of minutes or so we already had the first child saying: "Mommy, paint me a slide with a coumpio pofavou", and that in a stone of 2 × 2 cm and with a brush of the year of María Castaña… There we were the almighty parents doing the thousand and one under the burning sun of Andalusia to make a work of art like Jan Van Eyck.

Then, the older cousins came up to paint the bellies of the little ones, laughing and the occasional mosque, they made our children look like love bears with muffs.
The parents also wanted to participate and they painted the moms romantic dedications in the back ...
Another day we painted them with markers. We were invited to go out by boat and we took a boat ride to a cave that hid a mini beach with pebbles. They were “super soft” stones (as the children said) and with the markers that we carried on them they painted great.

This activity, we can transport it to any other place, whenever you leave home, you can take with you a few pieces of colored chalk or permanent markers, with them we can paint stones and rocks that we find along the way.

How to paint the stones

We put water in the bucket and wet the brush. With the wet brush we impregnate it with paint and paint the stones. We let them dry in the sun and ... let the imagination fly!
If you want, then you can take some stones home and you can decorate pots with flowers and plants. Or simply put them on a flat square plate and center it on a table as a decorative element.

By the way, I was very funny that my friend and her daughter were dressed the same, they both wore a set of Mamitis, a brand Lola talked about in this post a few months ago.
