Babies know physics

Babies know physics; This is the conclusion reached by scientists from the University of Missouri and was published in the journal Cognitive Science. I have found it enormously revealing how the brain of children works, although the importance of good nutrition must also be stressed for the organ of thought.

The authors have reviewed scientific papers and their conclusion is clear, babies, from their first weeks of life, already have ideas about how objects are and how the laws of nature and physics work. For example, two months later, babies understand that things that are not subject will fall and that what we hide does not cease to exist. At five months they know that there are substances that do not behave like solids and are prepared not to be astonished by these situations (for example, when they touch sand or water).

Likewise, babies are aware of concepts such as the number of objects or substances, demonstrating this that they understand the concept of object and the magnitudes, positions and movements of things.

The compilation work done by these scientists, with many references to the studies analyzed, is fascinating and they consider that it shows that babies know physics almost since they reach the world.
