Bottles free of Bisphenol-A also in Peru

The General Directorate of Medicines, Supplies and Drugs (Digemid) in Peru has banned the sale of bottles made of polycarbonate because it contains Bisphenol A (BPA), a substance that, as scientific studies have shown, could cause health problems.

In this way, it is added to other countries that have already banned this product, such as Canada, which was the first country to consider bisphenol-A toxic product, Australia, the European Union, Argentina or several United States.

Recall that Bisphenol-A is a dangerous component that is released in small quantities after heating of the polycarbonate bottle (or any other container containing this material) and is ingested, along with the liquids, by the baby.

Digemid has issued an alert addressed to health professionals, institutions, pharmaceutical establishments, markets, supermarkets, and the general public, indicating that there is a sanitary registry that entitles manufacturers to import, storage, distribution, marketing, promotion of items.

This registry would exclude manufacturers of this type of bottles, so they are supposed to follow the new legislation immediately, and adapt to the manufacture of bottles or bottles with materials that are not harmful to health.

This ban on bottles with bisphenol-A in Peru It aims to safeguard the little ones, and the authorities recommend reading the labeling of the package while highlighting the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding up to six months and in a complementary way up to two years of life or more.
