Use ultrasound to predict autism

Following our post related to the celebration, last April 2, of the World Autism Awareness Day, we bring you today a news related to an interesting and recent study.

This research, conducted at Michigan State University, informs us about the possibility of use ultrasound to predict autism. In this way, professionals could detect early possible markers in the fetus that would alert us to the probability that our child may or may not have autism.

The subjects selected to be able to carry out this study have been children of high biological risk, finding different types of brain lesions that influence the deterioration of white matter.

These babies were monitored with ultrasound after birth, in order to analyze the relationships between brain disorders and the child's health. Later, in adolescence, these children underwent different tests in order to identify a possible Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The power use ultrasound to predict autism It could be a great step forward in the difficult task of identifying early signs to detect this disorder. In this way, the intervention could be advanced more and more and, in this way, to be able to provide these children with a better quality of life.
