How to learn theorems, conjectures and optimal spaces with scientific dissemination in Famelab

I really liked this monologue about theorems, conjectures, optimal spaces and loves forever which has also been chosen winner of the first edition of Famelab 2013 in Spain. The teacher and mathematician who gives the talk is Eduardo Sáenz de Cabezón and will represent Spain in the international final of Famelab at the Cheltenham Festival (United Kingdom) from June 4 to 8. Famelab Spain is an international contest of scientific monologues, which in Spain is organized by the British Council and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).

Eduardo is 40 years old and is a professor of languages and computer systems at the University of La Rioja. He was the winner ahead of Oriol Miramón and Miguel Abril. The jury of the Spanish edition of Famelab, has been formed by the journalist of National Radio of Spain, Pilar Tabares, the comedian Flipy, the physicist and disseminator Daniel Jiménez and the winner of FameLab 2012, the Spanish based in Austria, Didac Carmona. All of them have valued in the winner their ability to tell a curious science story in three minutes, using a simple and easy to understand language. The final was held at the Alfil theater in Madrid in which two hundred people attended.

The video has 20,000 views on YouTube as passionate comments like this one from Quimitube:

Very funny :) And I have also learned a lot of things in less than 4 minutes!

The Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) is a public foundation, born in 2001 and whose mission is to promote science and innovation by promoting its approach to society. They have a YouTube channel: FECYT TV that aims to disseminate science by exploring new media such as audiovisual.

Since 2007 and thanks to the partnership with the British Council, FameLab brings together more than 20 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States. There are already more than 3,800 people from all over the world who have participated in any of its editions. FameLab aims to disseminate science by identifying, training and publicizing new talents working in science through an innovative format: the scientific monologue.

We are very happy for Eduardo and wish him well. We hope that the translation of the monologue into English does not detract from it, it is more I think it can enhance it. Eduardo has a very solid presentation style and is very clear about the message he conveys. What is not easy to do because explaining to someone that the optimal way to fill spaces is the hexagon, as do bees, or airplanes in their fuselage, is not easy. Many successes Eduardo!
