"Explain to me what happened": the guide to talk about death and grieving with children

The Mario Losantos del Campo Foundation (which works in the fields of health and education) has developed a free manual to help parents, teachers and any adult who has educational responsibilities with children, to solve the doubts that the little ones have about childish grief.

The goal is that we feel more prepared to explain to the kids what death is, a topic "often difficult to address", when not taboo.

So far the guide, written by our collaborator Loreto Cid, child and adolescent psychotherapist, was distributed free of charge in the school talks given by FMLC, within the project Learning to live, Explaining death. It was also available for reading and free download on the Issuu.com platform and on the website of Parcesa, a project partner company

This guide, as you might guess, is having a very good reception, and it does not surprise me because it contains well elaborated information that we it will help overcome prejudices when communicating to the children the death of a loved one (something that they would not want to happen, but that is part of the life cycle); We will also understand the grieving processes in children of all ages, very well explained and detailed.

In the end it includes abundant Recommended bibliography for parents, teachers and children; and for my part I take the opportunity to remember these stories that we have already presented with the same objective.
