New research on men's pregnancy

There are men who, by empathy with their partner, end up suffering certain symptoms of pregnancy. Morning sickness, stomach pains, mood swings and there are even those who claim to have felt in their own flesh the contractions of his wife in labor, but as in the mother, these symptoms disappear after birth.

It's not about the madness of some scratching. This curious situation that some men present is called Covada syndrome (from French, couver, incubate) and has become the subject of several investigations.

Some time ago, we knew of one by scientists at the University of St. George's in London that found that some parents felt fatigue, depression, stiffness, dental pain, cravings and even showed stomach inflammation.

Now, it is a study carried out by a group of researchers from the University of Zurich that continues to deepen on pregnancy symptoms in men.

They are studying 37 couples in order to find an interrelation between the biological factors (the role that the hormones testosterone and cortisol play in man) and the psychological aspects (the transition to parenthood).

At the moment he has found that 50% of the people in study have shown mood swings and a lower percentage, fluctuations in weight and appetite.

The project will last until November 2008. I imagine that they will then release the results of the research, which we will be eager to hear since fortunately the tendency to set aside men in the pregnancy process is being reversed. Now is the time for us to also know how they live this very important stage of their lives.
