The bits of intelligence for babies in full explosion of language

The flash cards or intelligence bits are "visual information cards" accompanied by an auditory stimulus. Invented by Glenn Doman, an American physiotherapist, creator of the early stimulation method that bears his name, he seeks to stimulate the child to learn the concepts represented in them while improving attention, facilitating concentration and developing his memory capacity.

There are bits of all kinds: letters, numbers, bits to learn art, music, other languages ... We can also customize them, making them ourselves at home.

But, regardless of whether we want to implement the Doman method or not, the bits of intelligence can become a very fun game for babies who are in full explosion of language, taking advantage of his endless desire to know new words.

That is the phrase that my little son has pronounced for months since he gets up until he goes to bed. And before he asked his brother. And without a doubt many of your children will be right now in that same phase, discovering the world by leaps and bounds, asking you at all hours what is that? with eyes open as dishes and wishing to learn new concepts and words.

That's how I discovered the intelligence bits. My oldest son asked about everything, one of our favorite activities was to go home in his arms and he pointed and asked. One day I sat at the computer to look for books with simple images to be able to satisfy their questions without having to be up the hall down the hall all day and I discovered the Usborne flashcards (although there are many in the market and you can choose the ones you like most or make them yourself).

Without a doubt, the intelligence bits have been one of the games that we have used the most at home (and one of the cheapest ones). First my oldest son used them to satiety and as they survived fairly well, now the little one has inherited them.

Although there are true methods that indicate the minutes of daily exposure to the cards, we don't need to follow any intelligence stimulation program if we don't feel like it. We can use as we see fit, simply when we see that the child is receptive and leaving when he begins to lose interest.

Games that can be done:

  • First, simply by using them to learn the first words, which correspond to simple and everyday concepts: table, book, bed, cow, car, etc.

  • Describe the images: a blue table, a large bed, a girl who is happy.

  • Learn the colors: yellow ball, red car, blue chair, etc.

  • Learn the first numbers, either with the bits that include them or adding them to us (for example, taking both children's cards at the same time)

  • Invent stories: the child is very happy because he is going to ride in the red car to go home.

  • Learn words in English. If we feel like it, we can also repeat the images pronouncing their correspondence in English (or in another language).

As you can see, the intelligence bits are a fun, versatile and economical resource with which to succeed when making a Christmas gift ideal for kids in full explosion of language.
